Changes at The Woodies – August 2020

We know we won’t be able to offer you anything like the usual “Woodies experience”, but we’re committed to doing our best to ensure both a happy and safe environment for everyone.

Please read the information below to understand how things will work at The Woodies for the time being. There’s a lot to cover but we live in strange times and the safety and comfort of our lovely customers and staff is our biggest priority.

We’re lucky to have so many wonderful customers, but we have limited space inside and on the patios, so we’re introducing a booking system for these areas.
The tables inside, on the patio, the area with the white sofas and a new designated seating area on the car park are all ‘reservable’. While reserving a table isn’t compulsory, we recommend it if you’d like to guarantee a table.
The picnic tables on the lawn aren’t reservable.

No vertical drinking

In order to comply with government advice, we’ll be a fully seated establishment both inside the pub and outside areas, including the garden. This means that everyone will need to be seated at a table and not standing. We’ll also have a one-way system in place.

How to reserve a table

We recommend reserving a table to avoid disappointment.

You can book a table by clicking here . We ask not to phone the pub to make table reservations if at all possible.

When you arrive, head to our ‘meet and greet’ point at the car park, and you’ll be led to your table.

Once you have secured a table, it will be yours for a maximum of 2 hours.

Inside we have tables for up to four guests. Outside we can reserve tables for up to six guests. The furniture must remain where it is – tables can’t be moved to bring separate groups together.
Parties with reservations will take precedence over walk-ins. If you have made a reservation and there is room to move to the garden, we’re more than happy to accommodate this.
Please note all ‘reservable’ tables outside will have some limited cover but are mainly weather dependent.

Walk ins

For those who haven’t booked a table, please still head to the meet and greet point.
We will be more than happy to accommodate you in the reservable areas if we have room. We’re not reserving the picnic tables on the garden so they will be on a first come, first served basis. The picnic tables seat up to six people and mustn’t be moved.
The garden tables are available for two-hour slots.
If there are no tables available, unfortunately we won’t be able to let you wait for one to become free, due to social distancing rules.

Opening times

We plan to keep our usual opening times for the time being, but we’ll review this as weeks go by.

Ordering drinks and food

Rather than taking orders at the bar like we normally would, we’ll be running a table service, bringing drinks/food to your table. No one should come to the inside bar to order.

At busy times we’ll have an outside order & pick up point for the lawn and the white sofas outside.

We’ll be serving a slightly reduced menu on weekday lunchtimes, which we hope will include your favourites, and we’ll review the menu as the weeks go by. Menus will be on paper and single use. We’ll be doing lunchtime cobs on Saturday, as normal.
We won’t be participating in the Eat Out to Help Out scheme.

Our preference is contactless and we kindly ask you to pay for your drinks when they are delivered to your table.

Please make sure children are seated at all times. If they need to leave the table, please ensure an adult accompanies them.

Please keep dogs on the lead and close by at all times.

Our no-smoking policy will remain in the area with the white sofas. We ask that guests at tables inside who wish to smoke do so at the front of the pub. Please ensure you use the ashtray by the door.

One-way system

We will now have a separate entrance and exit to help with social distancing.

We have sanitiser stations around the pub. We will sanitise your table area before you sit down and regularly sanitise our door handles, toilets, card machines etc.

Track and trace

When you arrive, one of your group will need to complete our Track & Trace form to give us their contact details and the number of people in your group. We will destroy the forms after 21 days.

Moving forward

As time goes on, we hope to re-introduce many of the things that we all loved about The Woodies, but for now things are obviously very different.

Please bear with us as we find our feet.

We can’t wait to see you
